LEAD is one of the program in Deshpande Foundation,The main objective of this program is to build Leadership qualities in youth. The tagline of this program is "Complaints start with they...... Solutions start with I....." It is a good platform to implement  our ideas. It is giving  dynamic leaders to our society.
I am also one of the fellow in LEAD program. I joined this program in my college days.I did some of the projects those projects are related to social problems,  Health and  Environmental issues. In the initial stage, we identified some of the problems then we took  small initiative projects like signboards, Dustbin, and we gave awareness to the people about hygiene, save the water & Trees through skits we did. From these activities we built our leadership qualities day by day then this leadership helps in taking big initiatives.
We filled the pits on the road: In this project our main motto is to aware the people about their responsibilities, to reduce accidents.
Collection of books: "Books are good friend to us"so we planned to collect books. In this project totally we collected more than 800+ books, these books includes general knowledge, technology, Novels, story books etc. we gave these books to needy people and it gives good impact on the people.
Eco friendly Ganesha: In this project we performed skits in different kind of areas. The main objective is to aware the people to save environment by using Eco friendly Ganesha. Don't allow children to burst crackers.
From all these activities I learnt leadership qualities, taking initiatives, time management, team  building activity.I got good experience from this LEAD program.

PRA ACTIVITIES

PRA ACTIVITIES

Participatory Rural Appraisal is nothing but collecting information about village.  It includes problems and sources of the village.so to get practical knowledge about PRA  we went to kadadhahalli village for PRA practical. There we met village people. We interacted with them.  Later we divided into 3 groups and we went for transact walk along with village people.
We collected village data like school, temple, lake, agriculture land and other resources. Later we gathered at Kalameshar temple which is located in center of the village.
We asked village people to draw social map, resource map and Venn diagram. While drawing we gave some suggestions to them to make the proper maps. We completed mapping within one hour. Later we discussed with people about their opinion on maps and issues.
                      Learning
  •    We learnt mapping in practical
  •   Approaching village people
  •  Actively involving people in PRA
  •  Village people participation is very important
  •  Collecting information in systematic way.
  • This PRA helps us to understand the village problem to identify the services
·      Coordination among fellows as well as with people
We learnt these things practically and we enjoyed a lot while doing it and it is helps to identify availability of resources in the villagers.

                         Thank you
